Target:

The target of this thesis is to analyze the processes and workflow within the Production Preparation department at Epiroc URE AVOS, with a focus on mapping current routines and identifying potential inefficiencies or waste.

The Production Preparation department at Epiroc URE AVOS plays a key role in managing engineering changes from R&D and ensuring these are correctly implemented in ERP-system and communicated to affected functions. The team handles approximately 60,000 part changes annually, requiring coordination across multiple departments and different systems. Due to its central role in the production chain, delays or quality issues in this process can significantly impact internal customers and affect final assembly. The complexity and volume of work make Production Preparation a critical area for analysis and potential improvement.

The mission of this thesis is to highlight challenges and opportunities in the current workflow of the Production Preparation department. It aims to contribute to a better understanding of how the work is structured, identify potential sources of waste or inefficiency, and provide insights that may support future improvements.
