Thesis APDL Configurable Beam Model GUI 2025

Bachelor/Master Thesis

One or two students/project. 
 

Target:
This project is intended to create a template for a beam model for the analysis engineers. This will involve creating a GUI that the engineers can use which utilizes in APDL (Ansys Programming Design Language). The goal is for the analysis team to be able to quickly create a model of a boom without the hassle of writing the APDL code itself.

Background:
Currently, whenever an order is made and we should test the structural strength of a boom, we need to sit down and write the code (almost) from scratch. Usually, we have previous models that we can lean back on and start from, but it will still take some time. The quicker we can get this model (pre-processing) done the quicker we can get to actual results that determine whether an order is feasible or not.

Mission:
The desirable outcome is for the project to produce a configurable beam model in APDL using a simplified GUI. One such “program” that involves us to choose a set of degrees of freedom and input the boom parameters (such as boom body, telescope, feeder etc with material properties relating to each parameter).

Qualification:
The students should have some knowledge in graphical interface design and programming language. Mechanical engineering knowledge is meritorious, but the team already have the mechanical knowledge. We do not currently have the appropriate coding capabilities.
