Do you want to help us speed up the shift towards a more sustainable mining and construction industry? By doing your thesis in collaboration with Epiroc you will get the chance to be a part of this journey.
You will work together with experienced and helpful colleagues in an atmosphere characterized by creativity, innovation, and workplace diversity. In your specific project you have the chance to be a part of a challenging and educational experience while growing both professionally and personally.
Education background:
Engineering, applied science.
Level of thesis project:
Bachelor’s thesis or Master Thesis.
Number of students in the project:
One student.
Target:
Detailed analysis of energy use and distribution for battery powered underground loaders and trucks with data from an underground tunnelling project in Oslo.
Data analysis from Kvaser logs with Matlab (or similar) and canAnaliser (or similar). Operator behavior analysis and optimization. Help validate and refine our theoretical energy consumption models for BEV, potentially leading to energy savings and range improvements.
Occasional site visits are required.
Background:
As battery electrification is gaining popularity, it becomes more important to have a deep understanding of energy usage to optimize simulation models and accurately predict expected range.
Mission:
The mission of this project is to map the energy consumption of various systems on battery-electric loaders and trucks operating in underground environments. These systems primarily include traction motors, auxiliary motors, the thermal management system, and the DC system. You will analyze real-world field data and translate your findings into a clear and comprehensive report.
The project will be considered successful when the analysis is completed and correlated with our existing theoretical energy consumption models.
Qualification:
We are looking for a candidate who is curious and practical, has genuine interest for data and strong analytical skills, is self-driven and well structured.
