About the Role
As an Analytics Engineer at Epiroc, you will play a crucial role in designing and delivering scalable, high-quality analytics solutions that transform business requirements into trusted data products. Your expertise will enable data-driven decision-making across key business functions and support the advancement of self-service analytics platforms using cutting-edge technologies such as Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable data models, pipelines, and end-to-end analytics solutions tailored for enterprise needs.
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance data products on modern data platforms like Databricks and Microsoft Fabric, ensuring flexibility and scalability.
- Develop and fine-tune Power BI semantic models and interactive reports, empowering stakeholders with accessible and insightful self-service analytics.
- Implement and uphold rigorous data governance, quality assurance, and comprehensive documentation standards to maintain data integrity and transparency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business units, data scientists, and engineering teams to deliver actionable, business-critical insights that impact Service, Finance, and other strategic functions.
- Contribute to establishing and enhancing DevOps practices, including version control (Git), continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), and code review processes to foster code quality and operational excellence.
- Support mentoring initiatives for junior team members, promoting best practices in analytics engineering and fostering knowledge sharing within a collaborative team culture.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proficiency with SQL and Python for creating and optimizing complex data pipelines and transformations in large-scale data environments.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric in lakehouse architectures, demonstrating an ability to work with modern data platforms.
- Demonstrated expertise in data modeling concepts and delivering scalable analytics solutions optimized for performance and usability.
- Advanced Power BI skills, including building semantic models, report development, and enabling self-service analytics capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality processes, and maintaining thorough documentation.
- Experience employing version control systems and DevOps workflows (Git, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews) to manage analytic codebases efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive ownership mindset, coupled with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholder groups.
- A relevant degree or equivalent industry experience complemented by several years in analytics or data engineering roles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing end-to-end data platform architectures with a focus on performance optimization and scalability.
- Familiarity with enabling self-service analytics environments and business-facing analytics solutions.
- Exposure to Azure cloud services and the wider Azure data ecosystem.
- Advanced knowledge of CI/CD automation and sophisticated DevOps practices.
- Experience mentoring or training less-experienced developers and contributing to team skill development.
- Background in advanced analytics or implementing machine learning workflows within Databricks environments.
- Comfort working within large global enterprises and distributed, cross-functional teams.
