Position: Design Engineer (Electrical)

Report to: Team Manager

Location: Bengaluru

 

Experience Requirements: Between 2 – 4 years of experience in Electrical Engineering design field.

 

Desired Knowledge/Experience:

  • Hands-on experience in electrical load calculations, cable and busbar sizing, and selection of switchgear components (contactors, relays, circuit breakers, etc.).
  • Exposure to sizing and selection of electrical motors, starters, and transformers will be an added advantage.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical specifications and performance curves to select appropriate components that meet product requirements.
  • Proficiency in designing and selecting junction boxes, and sizing fuses and circuit breakers for both AC and DC systems.
  • Strong knowledge of DC control circuits and control panel design principles.
  • Good understanding of sensors and their industrial applications.
  • Basic exposure to integration of electrical control systems with hydraulic systems.
  • Basic knowledge of system integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and overall product electrical architecture.
  • Familiarity with relevant international standards such as IEC, UL, NFPA, etc.
  • Basic hands-on experience in electrical panel assembly, fault identification, and diagnostics.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD/PLM tools (e.g., Creo, Teamcenter) will be advantageous.
  • Experience in OEM / Heavy Engineering / Mining machinery industry is preferred.

 

Job Description/Responsibilities: 

ADS products are manufactured at Epiroc’s Product Companies in Nashik (India), Nanjing (China), and Garland (USA). The Engineer will be part of the Offshore Engineering Design team (located in Bengaluru), providing engineering support for product sustenance and lifecycle management activities across these locations.

 

  • Nature of work includes new option development, product enhancements, field failure resolution, and alternative supplier component replacement.
  • Collaborate with Divisions and Product Companies (PCs) to understand, define, and execute the scope of work.
  • Develop and modify electrical circuits to meet product, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Extensively perform 3D routing of cables and harness assemblies using CAD tools, ensuring accurate connectivity to designated ports in accordance with approved electrical schematics.
  • Apply practical assembly best practices during cable routing to ensure optimal routing paths, ease of installation, and long-term serviceability during product assembly.
  • Prepare cable and harness manufacturing and installation drawings, maintain BOM structures, and manage drawing release processes within PLM systems.
  • Maintain effective and timely communication with internal customers and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Continuously enhance technical competencies and stay updated with evolving technologies, tools, and industry standards.
  • Foster team collaboration by actively sharing knowledge and contributing to team learning initiatives.
  • Address customer queries and support technical troubleshooting activities.
  • Report progress, risks, and updates to the Manager/Team Lead in a timely and structured manner.
  • Comply with company policies and adhere to organizational values and business code of conduct.

 

Educational Qualifications: BE/BTech-Electrical from a reputed institute

                                                (min 70% or 7.5 CGPA)
