About the Role

As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in conceptualizing, designing, and refining heavy engineering products that meet our high standards and client expectations. Working closely with senior colleagues and cross-functional teams, you will be responsible for transforming customer inputs and engineering requirements into optimized design solutions, ensuring technical accuracy and manufacturability.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze technical inputs, customer requirements, and specifications to develop effective design concepts.
  • Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using Creo 9, adhering to established design standards.
  • Conduct engineering calculations, theoretical validations, and simulations to ensure design feasibility and reliability.
  • Perform mechanism design, structural analysis, and thorough tolerance analysis based on GD&T principles.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to understand process limitations, tolerances, and finishing specifications, supporting seamless product development and maintenance.
  • Engage in customer interactions to clarify requirements, address queries, and incorporate constructive feedback.
  • Adhere strictly to internal project management workflows, timelines, and Epiroc’s engineering release process.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting value-added ideas and design optimizations.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and conduct self-review sessions to ensure the quality of deliverables.
  • Report progress and challenges proactively to the Manager or Project Leader, fostering transparent communication.
  • Demonstrate commitment to company policies, Epiroc’s core values including integrity, openness, and a global inclusive culture.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BE/BTech) from a reputed institute with a minimum of 70% marks or 7.5 CGPA.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in engineering or product development within the heavy engineering sector.
  • Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals, including hydraulics, material science, structural design, and mechanism analysis.
  • Proficient in using Creo 9 CAD software and familiar with Product Lifecycle Management tools like Teamcenter.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerance standards, and finishing specifications.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T principles and tolerance analysis is essential.
  • Experience with new product development and product maintenance processes along with engineering release protocols.

This position is a full-time regular role based in Bengaluru, reporting to the Research and Development management team under Epiroc Mining India Ltd. While the role primarily focuses on technical design and engineering, it also offers opportunities for cross-functional collaboration and customer engagement.
