Position Overview:


Join Epiroc Mining India Private Ltd as a Design Engineer based in Bengaluru, where you'll play a crucial role within the Corporate Units and Research & Development department. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions in heavy engineering and mining machinery, directly impacting new product development and product maintenance initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project inputs to fully understand client requirements, efficiently planning and executing work to assure high-quality and timely delivery.
  • Develop innovative design concepts integrating structural design principles including welded structures and bolted joints, supported by rigorous engineering calculations and validations.
  • Create and refine 2D drawings and detailed 3D models using Creo and Windchill, managing engineering Bill of Materials (BOM) changes and change notices (CNs) through Teamcenter.
  • Select appropriate components from suppliers, ensuring compatibility and performance according to engineering standards.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with customers and internal stakeholders to address inquiries, provide technical support, and troubleshoot design challenges.
  • Continuously enhance personal competencies related to manufacturing processes, material selection, hydraulics, electrical systems, and engineering fundamentals such as strength of materials and machine design.
  • Collaborate and share knowledge within the team fostering an environment of synergy, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Report progress and project updates regularly to the Manager or Team Lead, adhering to company policies, values, and the business code of practice.

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and material selection to optimize product design and functionality.
  • Strong competence in structural design, including expertise in welded and bolted joints, alongside practical skills in engineering calculations and validations.
  • Familiarity with hydraulics and electrical systems integrated within heavy machinery design.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering fundamentals such as strength of materials and machine design principles.
  • Experience with new product development cycles and engineering release procedures to ensure seamless product introduction and lifecycle management.
  • Proficient understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance analysis to maintain desired manufacturing precision and quality.
  • Hands-on experience using leading CAD and PLM software tools, including Creo and Teamcenter, for effective design and product lifecycle management.
  • Previous experience in OEM, heavy engineering, or the mining machinery domain is preferred, providing a strong foundation to excel in this technical role.
