Job Description:

We are seeking a technically strong and systems-oriented Lead System Engineer to drive requirements, architecture, and integration for embedded automation platforms in Surface Drilling systems. You will be responsible for defining system behavior, aligning cross-functional development, and ensuring seamless integration across hardware, software, controls, and communication interfaces.
This role is central to Epiroc's automation roadmap, supporting the development of brand-agnostic, interoperable platforms that enable autonomous operations across global mining fleets.

 

Key Responsibilities:
•    Translate product needs and improvements into system specifications and use cases.
•    Own system requirements, interfaces, and architecture for embedded systems.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive system definition and development.
•    Leverage AI-assisted and Agentic AI engineering workflows to establish and improve end-to-end traceability from product needs to system requirements and validation.
•    Drive structured requirements using modern AI-enabled tooling for requirement generation, impact analysis, consistency checks, and change management.
•    Support automation of system engineering activities including requirement decomposition, interface analysis, test case derivation, and documentation generation.
•    Ensure system compliance with functional safety and cybersecurity requirements.
•    Contribute to platform reuse and standardization across products or programs.
•    Drive end-to-end system integration across hardware, software, controls and interfaces.
•    Strengthen system engineering practices across the team through technical leadership.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:


•    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Computer Science.


Technical Skills:
•    8-12 years of experience in system engineering and product development.
•    Strong knowledge of requirements engineering and system architecture.
•    Derive requirements from existing system manuals, software, and PyTest libraries.
•    Awareness of AI-assisted systems engineering workflows, including intelligent requirements generation, traceability analysis, and automated validation support.
•    Exposure to Agentic AI concepts applied to engineering lifecycle activities such as requirements engineering, diagnostics, verification, and documentation automation.
•    Good knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, UDS, LIN.
•    Exposure to MBSE, SysML/UML, and system architecture or requirements tools.
•    Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving for complex system issues.
•    Experience in embedded systems, electrification, or autonomous machine functions.
•    Familiarity with AUTOSAR, embedded software, Python, C, and C++ programming.
•    Awareness of cybersecurity, connected systems, software-defined platform concepts.
•    Experience in system integration, validation, and customer acceptance activities.

 

Nice to Have:
•    Experience in mining, construction, automotive, or other industrial system domains.
•    Certifications in systems engineering, safety, requirements, or Agile methods.
•    Experience working with global teams across functions, sites, or engineering disciplines.
•    Exposure to deep learning, computer vision, ADAS, AI, OTA, and SDV.
•    Familiarity with Agile, Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and Docker.
•    Familiarity with AI-enabled productivity tools such as Copilot-based workflows.
