Mission of the Role:

To lead the verification and validation strategy for automation and autonomous control systems across Underground Drilling and Material Handling projects. This role ensures the delivery of robust, scalable, and safety-compliant software by driving test automation, system validation, and continuous integration practices. The Lead Verification Engineer will collaborate with global teams to uphold quality standards and accelerate time-to-market for next-generation mining solutions.

Job Description:

We are seeking a technically strong and quality-driven Lead Verification Engineer to lead the test strategy and execution for embedded automation platforms in underground drilling (UDA) and material handling (MH) systems. You will be responsible for designing and implementing automated test frameworks, validating real-time control systems, and ensuring seamless integration across hardware-software interfaces.

This role is central to Epiroc’s automation roadmap, supporting the development of brand-agnostic, interoperable platforms that enable autonomous operations across global mining fleets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead verification strategies for embedded control systems in UDA and MH automation projects.
  • Develop and maintain automated test frameworks using Python, Robot Framework, and Pytest.
  • Drive system-level validation for real-time, safety-critical applications in mining equipment.
  • Collaborate with software architects, developers, and system engineers to ensure testability and traceability.
  • Perform hardware-software integration testing, including CAN/J1939-based communication and sensor-actuator validation.
  • Lead defect triage, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) for automated regression and release testing.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in test automation and quality assurance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Computer Science.
  • 8+ years of experience in software verification and automation for embedded systems.
  • Proficient in Python, Robot Framework, Selenium, and test automation libraries.
  • Experience in system validation for real-time or industrial control systems.
  • Strong understanding of communication protocols: CAN, J1939, LIN, Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), Jira, Git, and Azure DevOps.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or machine-level testing.
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills

Nice to Have:

    • Experience in mining, construction, or automotive control systems.
    • Exposure to autonomous systems, ADAS, or sensor fusion.
    • Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and simulation tools (Gazebo, Unity).
    • Agile certifications (Scrum Master, Product Owner).
    • Experience with safety standards (ISO 26262 or similar) is a plus.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Salary and Benefits: Enjoy a rewarding compensation package tailored to your expertise.
  • Global career opportunities across Epiroc’s worldwide network.
  • Epiroc University for continuous learning and competence development.
  • Innovative projects that shape the future of automation and sustainability.
  • Hybrid work culture supporting flexibility, collaboration, and well-being.
  • Inclusive environment built on trust, innovation, and teamwork.

Why you should apply:

    • This role places you at the heart of Epiroc’s automation journey, where your expertise in verification and validation will directly shape the reliability and safety of next-generation mining systems.
    • Lead with Impact: You’ll define and drive the test strategy for autonomous control platforms used in underground drilling and material handling, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance and safety.
    • Innovate at Scale: Be part of building brand-agnostic, interoperable automation solutions that power global mining fleets, contributing to smarter, more sustainable operations.
    • Own the Quality Vision: From automated test frameworks to real-time system validation, your work will be central to delivering robust, scalable, and safety-compliant software.
    • Collaborate Globally: Work alongside architects, developers, and system engineers across international teams, accelerating time-to-market through continuous integration and agile practices.
    • Grow and Mentor: Lead by example, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices in test automation, defect analysis, and quality assurance.
