Mission:

 

We are seeking an experienced Polarion Administrator to manage, configure, and optimize the Polarion Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) platform that supports engineering and product development teams. You will be responsible for system administration, workflow configuration, requirements and test management support, user access management, reporting, integrations, and platform governance, ensuring Polarion operates efficiently, securely, and reliably. Working closely with engineering, quality, product management, and IT stakeholders, you will help drive process improvements, maintain end-to-end traceability, support compliance requirements, and enable effective collaboration across the product development lifecycle. As the subject matter expert for Polarion, you will provide technical guidance, troubleshoot platform issues, and contribute to the continuous enhancement of ALM processes and tools.

Join Our Team as a Polarion Platform Owner at Epiroc!

We are seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented Polarion Platform Owner to own the configuration, governance, and continuous improvement of our Polarion requirements management environment. In this role you manage and administer the Polarion environment as a critical engineering system, ensuring configurations are robust, scalable, and aligned with product development and compliance needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Own, configure, and maintain Polarion workflows, data structures, roles, and permissions
  • Develop and maintain and implement custom extensions, templates and automations using JavaScript or similar tools. 
  • Develop and enforce configuration change control and release management for changes to the Polarion system. 
  • Evaluate and approve configuration changes while considering system-wide impact, while rejecting changes that introduce risk – balance flexibility with strict governance to maintain system integrity.
  • Maintain system stability and mitigate risks associated with configuration changes. 
  • Support license management and user access control. 
  • Develop and maintain custom reports, dashboards, and templates. 
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering to translate process requirements into configurations and workflows.
  • Implement workflows in Polarion to match the Systems Engineering processes. 
  • Provide user support and troubleshooting for Polarion usage. 
  • Identify and implement usability improvements. 
  • Support system backup, recovery, and health monitoring. 
  • Managing support tickets with Polarion supplier (Siemens)

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience administering or configuring Polarion or similar ALM tools. 
  • Experience managing workflows, configurations, and access controls. 
  • Experience with scripting or customization (JavaScript, Velocity, Groovy, or similar). 
  • Hands-on experience developing and implementing systems engineering processes in requirements management or PLM systems. 
  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field. 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with Polarion APIs or advanced customization. 
  • Experience integrating ALM tools with Jira or similar systems. 
  • Familiarity with product compliance management in industrial, automotive or electrical industries. 
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes, modeling relationships between requirements, system architecture and design, and verification
  • Understand the impact of decisions on traceability, reporting, scalability.
  • Ideally, experience with SVN repository
