Project Engineer - Electrical Design Chargers

Team/Division

EES EITC – Chennai/Bangalore.

Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer, Electrification to join our team. with strong expertise in Electrical System Design to work in projects like Chargers, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and EV infrastructure. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving new product development, ensuring compliance with international standards, and leading teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Job Description:

  • Lead the design and development of electrical systems for chargers, BESS, and EV infrastructure.
  • Very good understanding of electrical component working principle, excellent selection knowledge (e.g. Circuit Breaker, Relay, Contactor, sensors, bus bar, etc.)
  • Develop comprehensive schematics and layouts for low-voltage (LV) electrical systems and power electronics circuits.
  • Drive end-to-end development of new products, from concept to commercialization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define specifications, ensure manufacturability, and meet project goals.
  • Ensure designs adhere to international standards such as IEC, UL, CSA, and others applicable to chargers and elevator systems.
  • Select and evaluate electrical components, including power electronics components, LV components, VFD, Power modules, Converters/Inverters, Transformers, LCL Filters etc.
  • Prepare engineering documents, including wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and bills of materials (BOM).
  • Maintain Project Technical deliverables & track live in status of project time to time.
  • Communicate project updates, risks, and outcomes to senior management and other stakeholders.

 

 

Experience Requirements:

Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in electrical system design and development, with significant exposure to EV Chargers, BESS, or EV infrastructure from Heavy Duty Off-highway/Automotive Industry.

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

Knowledge Requirement:

  • Strong knowledge of international standards (IEC/UL/CSA) relevant to chargers, BESS and EV Infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with power electronics, LV components, Grid systems etc.
  • Proficient in electrical design tools and simulation software (ETAP, MATLAB Simulink, etc).
  • Electrical Testing &Validation.
  • Electrical product assembly & integration.

  • Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills with a focus on team engagement and motivation.
  • Enthusiastic, positive minded and able to work well in an international client environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
