Project Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our Research and Development team at Epiroc Mining India Private Ltd in Bengaluru. This role is integral to driving value engineering initiatives that enhance product design, improve cost efficiency, and maintain the high quality and reliability standards that define our industry leadership.

 

About the Role

As a Project Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the PSD Engineering team, Divisional Engineers, and Aftermarket Engineering teams to execute Value Analysis (VA) and Value Engineering (VE) tasks. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing cost-saving measures that do not compromise on functionality or quality. Your efforts will directly support the company’s objectives regarding innovation, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive value analysis and value engineering studies on existing and new products.
  • Identify and evaluate cost optimization opportunities within product designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and quality assurance to develop and implement value improvement strategies.
  • Evaluate product and part functionality to ensure alignment with customer needs while optimizing costs.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on value engineering findings to steering committees and key stakeholders.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses to guide decision-making and support project justification.
  • Recommend design modifications and process improvements to enhance overall product value and performance.
  • Track progress and outcomes of value engineering projects, providing transparent communication and updates.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members on value engineering principles and best practices.
  • Coordinate with division engineers and cross-functional teams to fully realize value optimization potentials.
  • Manage and utilize Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems in support of engineering release processes.
  • Ensure strict compliance with operating procedures, ISO standards, and Epiroc’s business code of practice, maintaining project documentation meticulously.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at upgrading internal processes.
  • Foster effective communication with customers and stakeholders, gathering feedback and implementing improvements to sustain strong relationships.
  • Lead efforts to enhance team competencies in line with evolving industry trends and technological advancements.

 

Required Qualifications and Competences

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in value analysis and value engineering.
  • Proven expertise with value engineering methodologies and cost management practices.
  • Professional certification in value engineering will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to apply these in a practical, business-oriented context.
  • Experience using value analysis tools and familiarity with product lifecycle management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a team-oriented mindset and openness to constructive feedback.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, goal-oriented, flexible, and approachable professional capable of working independently and collaboratively.
