About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Engineer to join our Research and Development team within the Corporate Units division. This position provides a unique opportunity to work closely with the PSD Engineering team, divisional engineers, and the Aftermarket Engineering team to deliver high-impact value analysis and value engineering initiatives. The role is integral to enhancing product value and optimizing cost efficiency while maintaining a strong customer focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct comprehensive value analysis and value engineering (VA/VE) studies to identify cost savings and design improvements.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities across product designs and manufacturing processes without compromising quality or functionality.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and aftermarket services to develop and execute value improvement strategies.
- Evaluate product and part functionality to ensure alignment with customer needs and organizational goals for cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on value engineering findings, providing actionable insights to steering committees and key stakeholders.
- Conduct thorough cost-benefit analyses to support evidence-based decision-making processes.
- Recommend and drive design changes that enhance product value, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain project documentation rigorously following ISO standards and compliance with Epiroc's business code of practice.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery, quality outputs, and adherence to established operating procedures.
- Provide training, mentorship, and support to team members on the principles and practical applications of value engineering.
- Coordinate with division engineers and other cross-functional team members to maximize the full potential of engineering initiatives.
- Utilize PDM/PLM systems to support engineering release processes and maintain accurate records.
- Drive continuous improvement by upgrading internal processes and team competencies aligned with industry best practices and technological advancements.
- Engage regularly with customers to obtain feedback, foster strong relationships, and implement improvements that increase customer satisfaction and support sustainable business growth.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, accompanied by 3 to 6 years of professional experience focused on value analysis and value engineering. A professional certification in value engineering is an advantage but not mandatory.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a proven ability to solve complex engineering problems.
- Experience using value analysis tools and methodologies to deliver cost management improvements.
- A demonstrated track record of implementing effective cost-saving measures that do not sacrifice product quality or performance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively in diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong organizational and time management skills.
- A flexible and proactive attitude, willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced technical environment.
- Openness to constructive feedback and commitment to achieving results independently while supporting team goals.
