Project Engineer - Research and Development at Epiroc Mining India Private Ltd, Bengaluru

 

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Project Engineer to join our Corporate Units in the Research and Development department. This pivotal role within a technical company involves supporting the sourcing organisation by delivering reliable back-end sourcing and operational support. The successful candidate will enable cost-effective procurement, uphold supplier performance excellence, ensure data accuracy, maintain compliance, and support business continuity. Collaborating closely with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders, the Project Engineer will enhance operational efficiency, contribute to KPI achievement, and support regionalization and sustainable sourcing initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to implement sourcing strategies and support business decisions effectively.
  • Provide support to sourcing engineers and commodity teams in executing sourcing projects and managing operational activities to meet organizational goals.
  • Maintain and update sourcing master data, supplier records, contracts, and essential sourcing documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate supplier onboarding, qualification processes, and verify compliance documentation as part of supplier management best practices.
  • Contribute to localisation, regionalisation, and supplier development programs to strengthen the supply chain.
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of RFQs (Request for Quotations), quotations, and sourcing decision-making processes.
  • Manage sourcing-related data across ERP, SAP, PLM, and other business systems, safeguarding data integrity and governance adherence.
  • Maintain and support BOM (Bill of Materials), supplier part mapping, catalogues, and sourcing databases, driving data cleansing and standardization initiatives to improve efficiency.
  • Generate, analyze, and distribute sourcing KPIs, cost savings reports, spend analyses, and supplier performance dashboards to inform management and guide strategic decisions.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance, lead times, and related operational metrics, addressing issues proactively.
  • Provide insightful management reports and support data-driven decision-making processes across the sourcing organization.
  • Analyze sourcing trends and proactively recommend process improvements to foster continuous advancement of sourcing functions.
  • Engage actively in continuous improvement efforts in line with Epiroc's Purchasing policy, promoting best practices and innovation.

 

 

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline is required.
  • 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in sourcing, procurement operations, supply chain, engineering support, or related functions is essential.
  • Proficiency with ERP/SAP systems and sourcing processes ensures effective data and process management.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and data reporting facilitate sophisticated analyses and visualization of sourcing data.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings, BOM structures, and product data underpins accurate sourcing and supplier collaboration.
  • Knowledge of supplier management practices and sourcing workflows supports efficient supplier relations and procurement strategies.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills are paramount to navigate cross-functional collaboration and reporting.
  • Behaviorally, the ideal candidate will be energetic, a proactive team player, eager to learn, approachable, and goal-oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, openness to constructive feedback, and the ability to work independently while delivering results are important for success.
