Senior Project Engineer

Position Overview:
The Senior Project Engineer at Epiroc Mining India Private Ltd plays a pivotal role in driving the development and delivery of innovative cabling and electromechanical engineering solutions. Taking ownership of complex Research and Development projects from concept through to implementation, this position demands a high level of technical expertise, leadership, and collaborative skills to enhance product performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction. The role contributes significantly to Epiroc’s mission of innovation and business growth within the mining equipment sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and optimization of wiring harnesses tailored for heavy mobile equipment ensuring compliance with safety, vibration, and thermal standards.
• Utilize ECAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical and Creo Cabling for harness routing, parts packaging, 2D schematics, and 3D harness routing to create accurate and efficient electrical diagrams and assembly drawings.
• Conduct detailed component selection, including wire sizing, fusing, grounding, and connector type evaluation, to guarantee optimal function and reliability.
• Design and review wiring harnesses with consideration for maintainability, manufacturing processes, and industry standards (IEC, ISO, SAE).
• Generate and evaluate alternate integration concepts for electrical and electronic components to satisfy product requirements and packaging constraints.
• Manage synchronization of schematics and harness designs incorporating Design Rule Checks (DRC) to maintain documentation integrity and accuracy.
• Prepare comprehensive project documentation and actively participate in design reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with the global R&D team to coordinate project activities, ensure timely delivery, and maintain high technical standards.
• Perform Bill of Materials (BOM) management, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and utilize Product Data Management/Product Lifecycle Management (PDM/PLM) systems to support engineering release processes.
• Apply value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) techniques to optimize cost efficiency and feasibility without compromising quality.

Required Competences, Skills, and Experience:

• Demonstrated strong technical knowledge of electrical power and control systems with specific experience in diesel engine control and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) controls.
• Proven capability in creating detailed electrical diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical and familiarity with Teamcenter software.
• Hands-on expertise in electrical assembly and integration processes, wiring harness design, and electrical schematic development.
• In-depth understanding of Engine CAN communication protocols and diagnostic procedures.
• Familiarity with relevant standards such as IEC, ISO, and SAE, and ability to apply them practically.
• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to swiftly identify and resolve complex electrical system issues.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills paired with analytical thinking and organized work habits.
