About the Role

Join Epiroc's Research and Development team as a Senior Software Engineer specializing in C++ and Agentic AI. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, efficient C++ software for embedded applications related to drilling and material handling equipment.
• Develop modules for machine control systems, sensor data integration, and intelligent automation workflows.
• Utilize knowledge of communication protocols including CAN, J1939, LIN, and Ethernet to enable seamless equipment connectivity.
• Conduct comprehensive testing, debugging, and validation of control systems, ensuring they meet or exceed performance, safety, and quality standards.
• Leverage AI coding assistants such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to augment development processes and expedite software delivery.
• Lead initiatives to integrate AI-assisted engineering tools, including context engineering, agentic workflows, and automated feedback loops, fostering a more productive SDLC.
• Design, build, and operate agentic systems that are capable of evaluating software quality and supporting continuous improvement.
• Drive the design and implementation of AI-powered engineering environments that accelerate development velocity and improve code quality.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines, primarily utilizing Azure DevOps, to ensure smooth and reliable software deployment cycles.
• Contribute actively in Agile teams, using Scrum or Kanban methodologies, promoting collaboration, transparency, and continuous delivery.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Science, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• 5 to 8 years of professional software development experience, focused on embedded C++ programming with strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
• Proven experience with communication protocols such as CAN, J1939, LIN, and Ethernet in embedded environments.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) and familiarity with agentic AI concepts including context engineering, agentic workflows, MCP (Multi-Context Programming), A2A (Agent-to-Agent) communication, and agent skills.
• Experience with Agile software development practices including Scrum or Kanban frameworks.
• Proficiency in version control systems, especially Git, and workflow management tools like JIRA and Polarion.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive and self-driven approach to learning new technologies and methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to technical discussions.
