About the Role

As a Senior Technical Author, you will be responsible for creating, managing, and revising technical illustrations, parts catalogues, and related documentation that support the company's products and services. Your role involves a blend of technical analysis, content creation, and coordination with multiple stakeholders to ensure completeness, accuracy, and clarity of the technical publications.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and thoroughly analyze technical information such as Engineering Change Notices (ECN), Bills of Materials (BOM), technical drawings, and CAD data to understand product structures and updates.
  • Create detailed and accurate parts pages aligned with parts breakdowns, ensuring information reflects the current configurations and assemblies.
  • Perform ECN analysis and incorporate updates into the parts catalogue to maintain correct and up-to-date documentation.
  • Manage parts pages, illustrations, and reusable content systematically, adhering to established company standards and documentation methodologies.
  • Create and revise technical illustrations using software tools such as IsoDraw, Creo View, and Adobe Illustrator, ensuring visual content is clear, precise, and user-friendly.
  • Collaborate effectively with peer reviewers, illustrators, and project leads to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery of documentation.
  • Record and report on quality, delivery timelines, and other project metrics/KPIs to support continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.

Competences, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 4-6 years of professional experience in technical illustration, preferably within the automotive or heavy engineering industries.
  • Completed degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and revising Spare Parts Catalogues with a solid understanding of parts breakdown, spare part kits, and disassembly sequences.
  • Proficiency in using Teamcenter or equivalent Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of technical publication methodologies and tools, enabling the production of high-quality technical documentation.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret customer requirements and translate them into effective technical illustrations.
  • Sound engineering judgment combined with effective communication skills to engage with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
