Position Title : Sr. Project Engineer - Electrical Design
Location : Bangalore
Roles & Responsibilities :
This position is responsible for designing and maintaining electrical systems for underground Mine truck and Loaders.
Electrical Design & Schematics:
• Develop schematics and layouts for low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) electrical panels and subsystems.
• Create accurate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, and BOMs as per project requirements.
• Select suitable electrical components (switches, relays, connectors, ECUs, sensors, fuses, wiring, etc.) based on performance, durability, and system compatibility.
• Awareness of VA/VE techniques, cost reduction, optimization & feasibility verification
Harness Design
• Contribute to the design and optimization of wiring harnesses for heavy mobile equipment.
• Work on harness routing, parts packaging, and assembly drawings using ECAD tools.
• Ensure harnesses meet guidelines for safety, vibration, temperature exposure, and maintainability.
Electrical Systems Integration
• Support integration of electrical components into vehicle/equipment systems.
• Ensure proper compatibility between subsystems (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic).
• Work on 24V DC control systems, understanding power distribution and signal integrity.
• Co-ordinate with global R&D team for the projects & work independently.
CAN & ECU Systems
• Work with Engine CAN communication protocols for data exchange between ECUs and sensors.
• Assist in diagnosing CAN-related issues such as bus errors, terminations, and communication failures.
Testing, Validation & Troubleshooting
• Prepare and execute electrical testing and validation activities.
• Analyze test results and support corrective actions.
• Perform troubleshooting for field and production issues using diagnostic tools.
Documentation
• Prepare engineering documents: Wiring diagrams, Harness drawings, technical specifications, Test reports
• Prepares project documentation and participates in design review at various design phases
• Work on PDM/PLM systems associated with Engineering release processes & systems
• Performing\checking BOM changes and ECNs
Prototyping Support
• Support assembly, installation, and testing during prototype build phases.
* Competences, skills and experience :
Minimum 6 -10 years of experience in Electrical system design and development for automotive, construction, mining or heavy machinery
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical power and control systems
• Experience of diesel engine control and Battery Electric Vehicle controls
• To be able to make electrical diagrams with AutoCAD Electrical tool, knowledge and experience of Teamcenter.
• Experience and knowledge in industrial machinery is preferably in mining.
• Familiarity with simulation tools (ETAP, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of electrical testing and validation.
• Experience with electrical assembly & integration.
• Proficiency in wiring harness design and electrical schematic development.
• Knowledge of Engine CAN communication and diagnostics.
• Awareness of relevant industry standards (IEC, ISO, SAE).
• Good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Good-to-Have:
• Experience with PLC programming and HMI development.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems used in heavy equipment.
• Exposure to working with certification bodies for product approvals.
