Position

Sr. Project Engineer - Electrical Design

Team/Division

EES EITC – Chennai/Bangalore.

Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Engineer- Electrical to join our EES team, with strong expertise in Electrical System Design to lead projects in Electrical design. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving new product development, ensuring compliance with international standards, and leading teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

 

  • Lead the design and development of electrical systems for battery electrical system design.
  • Develop comprehensive schematics and layouts for low-voltage (LV) & High-voltage (HV) electrical systems.
  • Define and specify electrical components such as Switch Gears such as Circuit breaker, fuses, contactors, relays, connectors and wiring.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers to ensure proper integration and packaging of electrical components.
  • Design protection circuits for overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, short circuit, and thermal events.
  • Create wiring harness designs, connector pinouts, and integration drawings.
  • Generate detailed documentation including BOMs, assembly drawings, and test plans.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., UL, IEC, AS/NZS).
  • Interacting with the vendor to develop the new requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve conflicts and ensure alignment on project deliverables.
  • Addressing the stakeholder queries and handling the feedback.
  • Set an example to junior engineers in the team & coach them as required.
  • On-site support during prototyping and testing.
  • Reporting to the Team Manager/ Project Leader in a timely and efficient manner.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum 8-12 years of experience in electrical system design and development, with significant exposure to electrical system design.

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

Knowledge Requirement:

  • Strong knowledge of international standards (IEC/UL/CSA).
  • Experience with wire harness design and electrical component selection.
  • Basic understanding of communication protocols and IO Modules.
  • Knowledge of HV system safety, insulation, creepage/clearance, and isolation techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping and electrical testing equipment.
  • Strong knowledge in Autocad- Electrical and Creo schematic and parametric.

 

Personality Requirement:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Enthusiastic, positive minded and able to work well in an international client environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
