About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Project Engineer to join our Research and Development team within the Corporate Units business area. This technical role involves working extensively on Surface and Exploration Drilling (SRD) products, playing a pivotal part in advancing the technical development of innovative drilling equipment. As a Sr. Project Engineer, you will contribute your expertise to product knowledge and application while collaborating closely with international teams and stakeholders in a dynamic and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate innovative concepts, perform rigorous engineering calculations, and develop detailed designs to meet complex technical requirements.
- Coordinate effectively with diverse stakeholders—including design teams, manufacturing, and customers—to develop optimal engineering solutions, fostering competence and technical excellence.
- Support New Product Development programs and product maintenance efforts through comprehensive engineering projects and tasks.
- Understand and integrate subsystems within drill rig assemblies, evaluating, defining, and resolving design challenges and manufacturing issues to ensure high-quality and reliable products.
- Prepare and review 2D technical drawings and 3D CAD models using software such as Creo and SolidWorks to represent mechanical designs accurately.
- Perform Bill of Materials (BOM) modifications and Change Notices (CNs) to support product lifecycle management.
- Utilize PLM/PDM systems to manage engineering release processes, ensuring adherence to company standards and timely delivery of documentation.
- Plan and schedule work activities to meet project deadlines with a focus on quality, efficiency, and compliance with internal procedures.
- Maintain clear and proactive communication channels with customers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Uphold company policies, values, and code of business conduct, promoting an ethical and inclusive workplace culture.
- Participate in continuous learning and skills development to keep pace with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
- Foster teamwork and knowledge sharing within the engineering unit to build synergy and drive collective success.
Professional Competencies and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent from a reputed institution.
- 5 to 10 years of proven experience in CAD design, preferably in heavy engineering or mining equipment sectors.
- Working knowledge and experience with Drill Rig structural design is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in Creo and SolidWorks CAD software for mechanical design and modeling.
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems to support product data and lifecycle management is a plus.
- Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering principles including design for manufacturing and assembly methodologies.
- Competence in creating weldments, assembly drawings, and sheet metal components with attention to fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure design precision.
- Understanding of vehicle integration and packaging relevant to heavy machinery.
