About the Role

As the Team Manager for Technical Writing at Epiroc, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical documentation that supports the safe operation and maintenance of our advanced mining, earthmoving, and drilling equipment. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving the development of instruction manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that are precise, user-friendly, and aligned with product requirements.

You will collaborate cross-functionally with project offices, R&D, and service operations teams to gather, refine, and incorporate critical product information. Using advanced Content Management Systems and Technical Information platforms, you will ensure the efficient publishing and timely communication of technical documents to our customers and stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical manuals and SOPs for a broad range of equipment including drill rigs, loaders, and trucks, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with engineering standards.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams such as R&D, project offices, and field service to acquire and validate content for publication.
  • Manage and optimize the use of content management systems and technology tools like Adobe InDesign, XMetaL, Oxygen, Teamcenter, and Schema ST4 to enable modular content creation and single-sourcing for maximum reuse and consistency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to innovate technical communication methods, reduce translation costs, simplify content complexity, and enhance overall documentation quality and customer experience.
  • Regularly engage with customers to collect feedback on documentation usability and implement improvements that strengthen client relationships and satisfaction.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a skilled technical writing team by nurturing a motivated, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations, fostering professional growth aligned with evolving business and technology trends.
  • Define, implement, and refine internal standards, workflows, and best practices to enhance operational efficiency and deliverables quality.
  • Monitor team performance through metrics and reporting tools, ensuring objectives related to quality, delivery timelines, and resource management are met consistently.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of 12 years of industrial experience specifically within mining, earthmoving, drilling equipment, or off-road vehicle sectors.
  • Extensive experience in structured authoring, modular content development, and enterprise-level Content Management Systems delivering single-source publishing solutions.
  • Proven expertise in technical documentation methodologies including topic-based authoring, minimalism in communication, DITA standards, and XML authoring tools such as XMetaL or Oxygen.
  • Familiarity with Simplified Technical English to ensure clarity and global usability of documentation.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign), Teamcenter, and Schema ST4 for document management and production.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to translate complex technical and customer requirements into clear, actionable tasks.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and leadership capabilities with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in dynamic, results-driven environments.
