Senior Midlife Coordinator – Underground Equipment

At Epiroc, lifecycle management is critical to ensuring fleet reliability, cost efficiency, and sustainable mining operations. We are seeking a technically strong and execution-focused Senior Midlife Coordinator to lead midlife rebuild and overhaul programs for underground mining equipment fleets.

This role plays a key strategic and operational bridge between Engineering, Service Operations, Supply Chain, and Customers, ensuring safe, on-time, and cost-controlled rebuild execution aligned with production requirements and long-term equipment lifecycle strategy.

Mission:  Plan, coordinate, and execute midlife rebuild and overhaul programs for underground mining equipment, ensuring:

  • Extended equipment lifecycle

  • Optimized total cost of ownership (TCO)

  • High reliability and availability

  • Alignment with customer production schedules

  • Strict safety and quality compliance

The Senior Midlife Coordinator ensures that rebuild programs are technically sound, financially controlled, and operationally executable.

Key Responsibilities

Midlife Rebuild Planning & Execution

  • Develop detailed midlife rebuild plans based on equipment hours, condition assessments, OEM recommendations, and operational requirements.

  • Define scope of work for major overhauls of loaders, trucks, drills, and bolters.

  • Ensure rebuild execution is completed safely, on time, within scope, and within budget.

  • Monitor turnaround times, technical deviations, and execution performance.

Technical & Engineering Coordination

  • Act as technical focal point between engineering teams, workshop operations, and field service.

  • Validate technical specifications, BOMs, and rebuild standards according to OEM guidelines (Epiroc, Sandvik, Caterpillar).

  • Review failure analysis, component wear patterns, and reliability data to refine rebuild strategies.

  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, quality requirements, and technical documentation.

Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Prepare cost estimates and financial projections for midlife programs.

  • Monitor budget execution, material consumption, labor allocation, and cost deviations.

  • Analyze cost vs. lifecycle extension benefits and propose optimization strategies.

  • Support commercial discussions related to rebuild proposals and lifecycle contracts.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate closely with customers to align rebuild schedules with production plans.

  • Communicate scope, risks, timelines, and technical recommendations transparently.

  • Provide progress updates and post-rebuild performance analysis.

  • Build long-term trust through technical credibility and delivery excellence.

Supply Chain & Parts Coordination

  • Ensure timely availability of long-lead components and critical parts.

  • Coordinate procurement, logistics, and inventory planning to avoid execution delays.

  • Validate parts quality and compatibility with rebuild scope.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all rebuild activities comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

  • Promote a proactive safety culture during overhaul execution.

  • Monitor risk assessments and ensure safe work procedures are followed.

Continuous Improvement & Lifecycle Optimization

  • Analyze rebuild performance metrics to improve future midlife programs.

  • Identify recurring failure modes and recommend engineering improvements.

  • Contribute to standardization of rebuild processes, documentation, and best practices.

  • Support development of structured lifecycle management frameworks.

Profile Requirements

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or related technical discipline).

  • 7–12 years of experience in underground mining equipment service, rebuild, or lifecycle management roles.

  • Strong technical knowledge of underground loaders, haul trucks, drill rigs, and bolters.

  • Experience with OEM standards from Epiroc, Sandvik, Caterpillar or equivalent manufacturers.

  • Proven experience in overhaul planning, cost control, and technical coordination.
