Financial Accountant

In this role, you’ll ensure smooth and accurate Accounts Payable operations while supporting financial reporting, strengthening controls, and collaborating with key stakeholders.

Your Mission:

• Lead the end to end Accounts Payable function, including vendor onboarding, master data, invoice compliance, 3 way matching, and query resolution.
• Prepare AP payment runs, monitor payment terms, cash flow impact, and AP KPIs (DPO, aged creditors, discounts, bottlenecks).
• Ensure audit readiness, segregation of duties, and compliance with finance policies, accounting standards, and internal controls (ICFR/ICSR).
• Process invoices, journals, and financial transactions in ERP systems (Sage/Pastel), ensuring data integrity and correct chart of accounts usage.
• Prepare and post routine and month end journals, including accruals, prepayments, payroll, intercompany interest, and corrections.
• Perform and approve balance sheet reconciliations (bank, suppliers, customers, VAT, intercompany, clearing), resolving aged items promptly.
• Own fixed asset and IFRS 16 lease accounting, including registers, depreciation, ROU assets, lease liabilities, and GL reconciliations.
• Support month end close, reporting packs, variance analysis, audits, and act as backup to the Financial Controller when required.
• Coordinate and consolidate sustainability data and support alignment with ISSB IFRS S1/S2 reporting requirements.
• Provide technical finance support to internal stakeholders and support audits and regulatory requests.

Your Profile:

• Minimum of 2 years financial accounting/controlling experience including AP leadership.
• A BCom Accounting or equivalent; SAIPA/SAICA articles will be advantageous.
• Experience in fixed assets, IFRS 16, balance sheet reconciliations and internal controls.
• Experience with AP/AR processing, bank reconciliations and month‑end support.
• Exposure to sustainability/ESG reporting an advantage.
