Senior System Engineer

Join Epiroc Mining India Private Ltd, located in Bengaluru, as a Senior System Engineer within our Research and Development department, contributing to the Corporate Units business area. This pivotal role is designed for a seasoned professional passionate about system engineering in the field of embedded automation, particularly for Surface Drilling applications. Your work will directly influence the development of innovative, safe, and scalable autonomous control solutions that advance mining technology on a global scale.

 

About the Role

As a Senior System Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the architecture and integration of embedded automation platforms. Your responsibilities include translating product requirements into detailed system specifications, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, and supporting system integration activities to ensure the delivery of robust, interoperable, and safety-compliant systems. You will drive requirements engineering processes and leverage AI-assisted methodologies to enhance system development lifecycle efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Transform product needs and enhancement inputs into comprehensive system specifications and use cases that align with Epiroc's automation roadmap.
  • Develop and refine system requirements, interface definitions, and architectural designs for embedded automation platforms.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams—including hardware, software, controls, and communications specialists—to ensure cohesive system design and integration.
  • Utilize cutting-edge AI-assisted systems engineering workflows to improve requirements traceability, impact analysis, consistency validation, and change management.
  • Automate system engineering processes such as requirement decomposition, interface analysis, test case derivation, and the generation of high-quality documentation.
  • Ensure system designs comply with functional safety standards and cybersecurity protocols essential for operational reliability in autonomous environments.
  • Promote platform reuse and standardization efforts to streamline development across multiple products and programs.
  • Contribute to system integration testing, validation, and customer acceptance to guarantee that solutions meet stringent operational criteria.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to strengthen system engineering practices and foster collaboration within global teams.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Computer Science.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in system engineering, embedded systems, and automation domains.
  • Solid understanding of requirements engineering, system architecture, and interface definition principles.
  • Proficient in deriving and refining requirements from various sources including system manuals, existing software, test scripts, and validation inputs.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted system engineering workflows such as requirements generation, traceability analysis, and validation support.
  • Knowledgeable in communication protocols including CAN, Ethernet, UDS, and LIN, and exposure to MBSE, SysML/UML tools.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex systemic problems in embedded and autonomous systems effectively.
  • Experience in embedded software concepts, primarily C/C++, with awareness of cybersecurity considerations relevant to embedded platforms.
  • Track record in system integration, validation, functional safety, and customer acceptance activities aligned to autonomous and electrified machinery functions.

 

Preferred Competencies

  • Experience in industrial system domains such as mining, construction, or automotive sectors.
  • Certifications in systems engineering, safety standards, requirements management, or Agile methodologies.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with global teams, bridging multiple functions, sites, and engineering disciplines.
  • Exposure to emerging technologies including software-defined platforms, computer vision, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and autonomous machinery technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management tools and processes, including Git, Azure DevOps, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Interest or exposure to Agentic AI applications within system engineering lifecycle activities.
