Production Planner
The Role:
- Assist in areas of assignment and carry out designated responsibilities in areas such as, but not limited to:
- Work with Production Supervisors, Purchasing teams and other functions to make a detailed production plan.
- Make capacity need calculations.
- Release products in the systems so that material supply can be performed in a timely manner.
- Schedule when materials shall be released from the warehouse to the production.
- Follow up the material availability so that rigs can be produced according to plan. React to buyer/planner in case of suspected deviations in the flow of incoming materials.
- Handle upcoming situations of deviations in capacity or material supply and take necessary steps to re-plan the production.
- Maintain reports, follow-ups and diagrams.
- Take part in improvements to reduce lead times, increase flexibility, reduce inventories, increase productivity and improve processes.
- Work with Marketing, Production, Sourcing and Engineering to review customer orders and develop realistic delivery commitments and provide accurate promised production finish date for production units.
- Maintain open and effective communications with all personnel regarding supply, capacity, and production problems and their resolutions.
- Act as a hub to communicate information between Marketing, Production, Engineering, and Sourcing.
- Oversee all planning functions for assigned products including MRP requirements
Skills:
- At least three years of experience of production and materials planning.
- CPIM preferred.
- Advantage if skilled in the use of information systems.(Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong Knowledge or MRP systems
Behaviors:
- Strong analyst - shall be able to handle large amount of information and make sound decisions.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate activities with Production, Marketing, Engineering, and other business functions.
- Positive attitude and open for new ways to do things
- Must have good document control with attention to detail.
- Understanding of business issues related to entire supply chain - parts suppliers, engineering, production, and end customer requirements.
- Root Cause Analysis Skills - Ability to drill down into material supply issues and determine effective corrective action. Systematic analysis of materials systems and processes to facilitate continuous improvement.
This is a strong stepping stone to learn multiple areas in the business including many Production, Supply Chain and Marketing.
