Join Our Team as an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist at Epiroc!

The EHS Specialist ensures safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible operation within a heavy manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on leadership across production and support areas to drive a proactive, zero-incident safety culture. Responsibilities include regulatory reporting, hazardous waste and chemical management, emergency response coordination, worker risk assessments, incident investigation and root cause analysis, training delivery, compliance audits, environmental program support, and continuous improvement. The objective of this role is to protect employees, the environment, and business operations by implementing effective EHS programs, maintaining regulatory compliance, reducing risk, and embedding safety into daily manufacturing activities.

 

Work Type:

Onsite, Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

 

Principal Responsibilities:

 

Regulatory & Corporate Reporting:

  • Support the SHEQ Manager in all regulatory and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records for inspections, incidents, training, compliance activities, and audits.
  • Track and analyze EHS metrics to identify trends and support strategy development.

 

Emergency Response & Preparedness:

  • Serve as the Emergency Response Leader for the organization.
  • Develop, maintain, and lead to emergency response procedures and drills.

 

Risk Assessment & Prevention:

  • Conduct worker risk assessments for safety and occupational health hazards.
  • Partner with leads & supervisors to eliminate or reduce hazardous conditions.
  • Champion a zero-incident culture through proactive risk assessments and engagement.
  • Monitor PPE use and safety equipment compliance.

 

Incident Management:

  • Review accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Lead and support investigations using root cause analysis.
  • Develop, implement, and track corrective actions.

 

Training & Engagement:

  • Identify EHS training needs and deliver EHS training.
  • Facilitate emergency response drills and safety meetings.
  • Provide hands-on EHS support across production areas.

 

Audits, Inspections & Compliance:

  • Conduct workplace safety inspections and compliance audits.
  • Drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs.

 

Safety Committee & Culture:

  • Support and strengthen an effective safety committee with clear goals and objectives.
  • Lead or support safety committee meetings and initiatives.
  • Partner with leads & supervisors to address unsafe behaviors proactively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

 

Knowledge:  

  • Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel) and database experience
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Safety Program implementation and risk mitigation strategies.
  • US Federal and state EHS regulations and standards.
  • Hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies.

 

Skill in:

  • Leading investigations and analyzing incidents.
  • Safety training and facilitation.
  • Interpersonal communication and team collaboration.
  • Data analysis and interpretation.
  • Experience in Fall protection and Risk assessments

 

Ability to:

  • Identify and assess potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct investigations and analyze incidents.
  • Communicate EHS information to diverse audiences.

   

Formal Education Requirement:

  • High School Diploma or Associate Degree
  • Bachelors preferred.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
