Join Our Team as a Lead Person – Tool Crib at Epiroc!

The Resource Cage Lead is responsible for assuring safe, efficient, and timely operation of the assigned department. As well as leading the hourly work force, this position has the responsibility to coordinate with production supervisors/leads, process engineering, maintenance, and product engineering services to assure efficient and timely allocation of tools, fixtures, assembly equipment.

 

Work Type: Onsite

 

Shift Timings: Monday-Thursday, 6:00AM-3:30PM

 

Responsibilities:

  • Organize direct labor
  • Employee issue resolution
  • Assign and oversee personnel to achieve tool, fixture, assembly equipment efficiencies, productivity and cycle time
  • Prioritize activities that coincide with deliverables being allocated to the end user (operators in the factory)
  • Focus support organization activities to eliminate performance obstacles
  • Ensure safe operating practices
  • Work with Production Supervisors/Leads to establish process methods which minimalize tool, fixture, and assembly equipment exchange time.
  • Assure that products are of the highest quality by ensuring calibration specifications and needs are communicated to Calibration/EC Technician
  • Organization and cleanliness of the department
  • Implement guidelines to control operational costs

 

Knowledge/Education:

  • AS or BS degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • At least 5 years in a similar manufacturing industry.
  • Basic computer skills – Word and Excel
  • Ability to read blueprints and read from a Bill of Material (BOM)
  • APICS CPIM Certification preferred

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to coordinate daily activities, assign tasks, and support the hourly workforce to meet production needs.
  • Strong communication with Production Supervisors, Process Engineering, Maintenance, and operators to ensure timely allocation of tools and equipment.
  • Skilled at prioritizing tasks based on production demands and ensuring tools, fixtures, and assembly equipment are available when needed.
  • Ability to identify obstacles affecting tool flow or equipment availability and work with support teams to resolve them quickly.
  • Ensures calibration needs are communicated and tools meet quality standards before being issued.
  • Maintains a clean, organized department to support safety and efficiency.
  • Supports cost‑control guidelines through efficient resource use and workflow planning.

The work environment in the mining and construction industries presents unique and dynamic challenges not typically found in other professions. It includes a range of settings—from a professional office environment to rugged field conditions—often in some of the most remote, beautiful and pristine areas of the world.

 

For office-based work, duties are performed in a professional setting that may involve extended periods of sitting and frequent computer use, which can lead to eye strain or fatigue. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. The office environment may include minor distractions from general noise and routine activities. To support employee well-being, ergonomic equipment and regular breaks are encouraged.

 

When working on the production floor or in testing areas, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, including a hard hat or bump cap, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes.
