Join Our Team as a Maintenance Electrical Technician at Epiroc!

The Maintenance Electrical Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production equipment and the facility buildings in order to support the achievement of the department / business goals and objectives. This position will have a strong emphasis on electronics but not limited to.

Friday-Sunday, 6 AM-4:30 PM

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive, emergency, corrective and predictive maintenance of facility and production equipment
• Maintain, install, troubleshoot and repair the following equipment, but not limited to:
  • AC & DC motors
  • Transformers and rectifiers
  • Industrial electronic and control systems and equipment, including PLCs
  • Machine and motor controls systems and equipment, including VFDs
  • Logic panels including hard relays, timers and counters
  • I/O modules
• Make program modifications to programmable logic controllers
• Perform mechanics skills including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production and facility equipment
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
• Read and understand mechanical prints / drawings, electrical schematics and line diagrams / relay logic.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments of equipment
• Maintain the facilities buildings and test pads
• Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, meters, material handling equipment, and lift equipment
• Perform basic fabrication functions which may include minor welding
• Assembly of equipment as required
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area
• Communicate status of work orders and projects to management
• Perform duties outlined in the Maintenance Utility classification
• Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
• Detect and report defective materials, faulty operation, and / or unusual conditions to management
• Maintain work related records and reports, enter information into the Maintenance Management system as required
• Follow prescribed safety and environmental regulations / guidelines
• Perform other duties as required or directed

Knowledge/Education:

• Should have strong electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems skills
• Should have solid trouble shooting skills
• Should be able to use testing equipment and multi-meters proficiently
• Should have a firm understanding of facilities electrical wiring and components
• Electrical Journeyman’s License is a big plus
• Welding & fabrication experience is a plus
• 2 years of technical training or a Journeyman’s License is a plus
• Minimum 2-4 years of Industrial Maintenance experience preferred

Skills and Abilities:

• Required to read, write and comprehend English
• Must be able understand operators manuals, maintenance manuals, equipment specifications, blueprints, bills of Material, and schematics
• Must be able to use precision measuring equipment, troubleshooting equipment, hand tools and power tools
• Proficient with mechanical assemblies and electrical sequences and techniques
• Should have a strong understanding of troubleshooting principles and be able to apply those skills in finding a solution to a problem
• Must be a highly motivated, self-directed, multi crafted worker that is able to work individually or in a team environment with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds
• Must be results oriented with the ability to manage multiple work orders at once.
• Must be able to communicate well with other members of the maintenance team, management and vendors
• Must be willing and able to wear PPE as required for job.

The work environment in the mining and construction industries presents unique and dynamic challenges not typically found in other professions. It includes a range of settings—from a professional office environment to rugged field conditions—often in some of the most remote, beautiful and pristine areas of the world.

For office-based work, duties are performed in a professional setting that may involve extended periods of sitting and frequent computer use, which can lead to eye strain or fatigue. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. The office environment may include minor distractions from general noise and routine activities. To support employee well-being, ergonomic equipment and regular breaks are encouraged.

When working on the production floor or in testing areas, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, including a hard hat or bump cap, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes.
