Mission of the role:

Join the esteemed team at Weco, a leader within the Equipment & Service business area, as a CNC Grinder Operator based in Krugersdorp, South Africa. This role is an essential part of our Functional Department within the Parts & Services Division EMEA under Weco (Pty) Ltd.

As a CNC Grinder Operator, your mission will be to operate and maintain CNC grinding machines to produce precision metal parts and components. Your work will directly contribute to our organization’s commitment to delivering high-quality products, maintaining operational excellence, and fostering a safe and productive work environment.

Your Mission:

• Operating CNC Grinding Machines: Set up and operate CNC grinding machines to perform precise grinding operations on metal parts according to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Programming and Adjustments: Write and modify CNC programs as needed to optimize grinding processes, and fine-tune machine settings to meet exacting standards.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and calipers, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance checks on CNC grinding equipment to ensure peak functionality and troubleshoot any mechanical or programming issues efficiently.
• Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe workplace environment for yourself and colleagues.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production runs, machine configurations, maintenance activities, and any adjustments made during operations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, quality control personnel, and fellow production team members to drive continuous improvement and solve operational challenges.

Your Profile:

• Qualification as a metal working artisan, machinist, tool and die maker, fitter and turner, or a closely related trade.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in production and manufacturing environments with at least 3 years specifically as a CNC Grinder Operator.
• Strong ability to read, interpret and apply information from engineering drawings and process sheets.
• An engineering or production background is essential for understanding operational principles.
• Excellent numeracy skills to accurately measure and set up machines.
• Proficiency with conventional and CNC internal and external grinding machines, including surface grinding techniques.
• Advanced skills in using precision measuring tools and instruments.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with Fanuc CNC controls are highly desirable.
