CNC Operator at Epiroc – Krugersdorp
Join our skilled team at Weco, a leading brand within the Parts & Services Division EMEA, as a CNC Operator based in Krugersdorp, South Africa. This role is integral to supporting the production of precision manufactured components in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, ensuring that all processes meet stringent quality standards through expert setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machinery.
Mission of the role:
As a CNC Operator, you will play a key role in machine setup and operation, responsible for effectively configuring CNC mills, turning centers, and live tooling machines to execute production plans. Your expertise in technical drawing interpretation and programming adjustments will enable you to optimize processes and consistently meet production targets with superior precision.
Your mission:
- Machine Setup and Operation: Set up CNC machines accurately, perform initial checks for alignment and calibration, and operate machinery following detailed specifications.
- Programming and Adjustment: Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files. Modify and input CNC programs to enhance productivity while maintaining high-quality outputs.
- Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality checks throughout the production process using precision measuring tools. Identify, analyze, and rectify deviations ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Carry out routine maintenance and support repairs to sustain optimal machine performance. Quickly address technical issues to minimize downtime.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive and accurate records concerning production, quality inspections, machine settings, and maintenance activities. Promptly escalate any concerns or irregularities to supervisors and management.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce adherence to all safety standards and company policies to uphold a safe and compliant workplace environment.
Your Profile:
- Technical Certificate or Associate Degree in machining or related disciplines such as Tool, Jig, Die, or Tuner Machinist.
- Training and practical understanding of Quality Control principles and standards.
- Proficiency in the interpretation of technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards aligning with industry norms.
- Proven experience in independently setting up and operating CNC milling, turning, and live tooling machines. Experience with Hurco machinery is advantageous.
- Ability to confidently communicate technical matters with supervisors and technical colleagues.
- Skilled in utilizing precision measuring equipment and quality control tools, with a proactive approach to identifying root causes of defects.
- Strong commitment to quality assurance throughout production processes.
