CNC Programmer

Mission of the role:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to develop, optimise, and maintain CNC programs, machining processes, and tooling documentation. This role is key to ensuring efficient, high-quality, and repeatable production. The successful candidate will maximise manufacturing capability through precise programming, setup optimisation, integration of quality control, and continuous improvement of machining operations.
Your mission:
- Develop, optimise, and maintain CNC programs using EdgeCam for turning, milling, cylindrical grinding, and multi‑axis machining.
- Support machine setup, prove‑outs, and troubleshooting across Fanuc, Fagor, Hurco, and other control systems.
- Implement program revisions and machining improvements with full version control and approval.
- Drive scrap and rework reduction, targeting <5% linked to programming issues.
- Create standardised setup sheets, machining drawings, and digital tool lists to improve efficiency.
- Optimise toolpaths, feeds, speeds, and tool changes to reduce idle time and achieve setup/runtime ratio goals.
- Build and maintain tool libraries, cutting parameters, and job‑specific tooling kits for top products.
- Integrate quality control into programming and machining, ensuring tolerance, GD&T compliance, and >98% documentation accuracy.
- Lead continuous improvement and safety initiatives, delivering documented process gains and maintaining zero recordable injuries.
Your Profile:
- Trade qualification: Machinist, Tool & Die Maker, Turner, Fitter & Turner, or similar (non negotiable).
- CAM programming training or certification (EdgeCam preferred).
- QC, Lean Manufacturing, or related training (advantageous).
- 5+ years machining experience, including both milling and turning.
- 5+ years EdgeCam experience.
- Strong G code programming capability across Fanuc, Fagor, and conversational systems.
- Hands on machining: setting, operating, and programming.
- QC knowledge: dimensional inspection, metrology tooling, defect analysis.
- Experience in continuous improvement, lean principles, and process optimisation.
