Production Planner

About the Position

We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Production Planner to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for coordinating production activities across CNC machining, turning, welding, and finishing operations to ensure on-time delivery, efficient resource utilization, and smooth workflow throughout the plant.

The ideal candidate will have experience in machining environments, production scheduling, capacity planning, and cross-functional coordination with engineering, CNC programming, quality, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production schedules for machining centers, lathes, and welding operations.
• Analyze customer orders and translate demand into executable production plans.
• Optimize production flow by grouping parts with similar materials and geometries to minimize setup times.
• Estimate production lead times considering CNC programming, machining, welding, finishing operations, and current plant workload.
• Coordinate with CNC Programming and Engineering teams to ensure tooling availability before releasing work orders.
• Monitor work-in-process (WIP) and ensure a continuous flow of materials between production stages.
• Evaluate plant capacity and resource availability to support realistic delivery commitments.
• Coordinate outsourced operations such as heat treatment, phosphating, coatings, and grinding processes.
• Identify bottlenecks and monitor machine utilization to improve production efficiency.
• Analyze quoted versus actual machining times and recommend improvements for future planning accuracy.
• Support new product introductions (NPI) and engineering change implementation.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
• Monitor production performance through Indisoft, including cycle times and operator reports.
• Manage quality rejects and rework schedules to minimize delivery impacts.
