Corporate Tax Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Primary responsibility for the management of all provincial and federal income tax matters, including the timely and accurate completion of all federal and state income tax returns, along with the timely completion of quarterly tax reporting.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manages the income tax compliance process for Epiroc Canada Holdings (ECH) and its operating companies on a timely basis.
  • Manages the quarterly tax provision for ECH and its' operating companies.
  • Reviews deferred taxes for ECH and its' operating companies.
  • Tracks deferred tax assets & liabilities.
  • Prepares effective tax rate reconciliations.
  • Manages and/or assists in calculating research & development tax credits.
  • Reviews quarterly estimated tax payments and extension requests for ECH and subsidiaries.
  • Provides assistance to VP Tax on income and sales tax audits.
  • Provides assistance to VP Tax on transfer pricing documentation and questions.
  • Assists with merger and acquisition activities, including tax due diligence.
  • Assists with tax programs, processes, and issues with finance and accounting and the operating units.
  • Performs tax research as applicable.
  • Oversees the following activities:
  • Maintenance of compliance tax calendar
  • Reconciliation of all operating company tax accounts
  • Allocation of monthly chargeback to operating companies
  • Responses to various tax notices in a timely manner

 

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE

 

  • A professional Accountant with at least 5+ years of Canadian tax experience
  • Completion of CPA In-depth Tax Program or equivalent
  • Prior experience preparing complex tax provisions of multi-nationals, Canada GAAP and IFRS experience a plus.
  • Strong team player who will partner in the process and be proactive.
  • Demonstrated technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive projects to completion.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills in order to communicate complex tax issues, analysis and conclusions internally to technical and managerial audiences, as well as externally to the tax auditors and other parties of the assigned jurisdictions.
  • Undergraduate degree in business administration or related degree. Professional accounting designation (CA or CPA)
