Engineering Overseer - Platreef

Mission:

This position is to promote the technical support and communication flow, technical service, and competence within Epiroc and Customers. To ensure Customer Satisfaction, through the cognizance of machine performance, and availability, including operating costs, and the safety of employees as well as the efficiency of labour.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all safety related aspects are managed and adhered to.
• Safeguard a safe and healthy working environment in your territory and ensure that "The Way We Do Things" & "Code of Conduct" are followed.
• Responsible for providing necessary Engineering and Technical Support of existing and upcoming Epiroc Fleet on site.
• Responsible for 100% commissioning of new equipment underground within the agreed time frame.
• Manage team of product specialists, artisans and field service technicians and ensure 100 % utilization of labour hours and shifts.
• Implement procedures to ensure that all service activities are performed in an organized and structured manner.
• Work very closely with Sales & Marketing team in developing new Service Agreement proposals.
• Responsible for management and execution of Service Level Agreements at customer site by proactively planning of required resources, tools, facilities etc.
• Assist Sales & Marketing team / Contract team in Critical spare planning and forecasting.
• Responsible for on-site warranty claims both internally and externally.
• Implement procedures to ensure that all service activities are performed in an organized and structured manner.
• Provide all necessary technical support to client, breakdowns, and maintenance of all equipment on site.
• Compiling of daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
• Daily meeting with the client and with your team to ensure both parties are informed and the smooth hand over between shifts.
• Drive competence & technical training plan for all Technicians and Product Specialists on site.
• Conduct failure analysis and train site technicians and other regional personnel on failure analysis on any recurring issues at a customer site, and relentlessly pursue solutions until the issue is resolved.
• Hold the legal 2.9.2 appointment for the site.
• Ensure that the all-site employees do not work excessive hours and keep to the hours prescribed per LAW.
• Ensure that all people on site are appointed for the job that they perform.
• Monitoring of project performances and the recording of all relevant data.
• Keep an accurate record of the performances of all equipment on site.
• Attend relevant meetings as and when required.
• Work very closely with Sales & Marketing team in developing new Service Agreement proposals.

• Assist Sales & Marketing team / Contract team in Critical spare planning and forecasting.
• Ensure the smooth and effective supply, delivery, and installation parts.
• Keep accurate records of hours worked and to promote safety and health issues.
• Regular underground visits and inspection of the equipment needs to be done.
• Planning, assigning and delegating work; evaluating performance and disciplining employees, if needed; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Educational Requirements:

• Grade 12 educational certificate or knowledge required through experience in the relevant field.
• Relevant experience on managing contract sites.
• A technical qualification would be advantages.

Required Skills and Capabilities:

• Prior demonstrated experience of successfully leading teams of employees required.
• Effective communication skills, including presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Strong technical background is required for issue resolution & reasoning / discussing "root cause analysis" back to customers.
• Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, blueprints, hydraulic schematics, electrical and circuit drawings and diagrams, and governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Advanced training in computer aided maintenance systems, reporting, databases, and spreadsheets are preferred qualifications.
• Good understanding of the overall underground operation at mine sites.
• Have good people and managements skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Track record of people management in the mining industry.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
