Your mission as a Fleet Controller
Are you passionate about keeping a mining fleet moving safely and efficiently, with the situational awareness to make sharp operational calls under pressure? Epiroc is looking for a Fleet Controller at to coordinate, monitor, and optimise the movement and performance of our support vehicles onsite. In this role you'll be the operational nerve centre, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant fleet operations that stay aligned with mine production targets, safety standards, and procedures.
What you'll do:
- Monitor and control the movement of service and light vehicles within the pit and plant areas, working closely with Avis on condition monitoring of all vehicles
- Onboard vehicles onto the Mogalakwena site and arrange site readiness
- Communicate real-time instructions to operators to maintain optimal cycle times and reduce delays, while tracking utilisation, availability, and performance through fleet management systems
- Maintain real-time visibility of fleet status, breakdowns, delays, and production bottlenecks, and record and report downtime, operator performance, and production metrics
- Provide shift-end reports to dispatch supervisors, production teams, and management, and assist with root cause analysis for delays and inefficiencies
- Log breakdowns and defects, schedule servicing and planned maintenance without disrupting production, and track return-to-service timelines
- Serve as the central communication point between operators, supervisors, maintenance, and production teams, providing clear instructions via radio or digital dispatch and supporting accurate shift handovers
- Enforce mine safety protocols and traffic rules, report unsafe behaviour and near misses immediately, ensure prestart checks and safety documentation are completed, and support emergency response when required
What you'll bring:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- A valid driver's license
- Minimum 1–2 years' experience in open pit mining operations
- Minimum 1–2 years' experience in fleet management
- Computer literacy and proficiency with mining fleet management systems
- A solid understanding of open pit mining operations and equipment cycles
