Your mission as a Service Technician
Are you passionate about keeping equipment running reliably and production moving efficiently?
As a Service Technician, your mission is to ensure the smooth operation of equipment by swiftly responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and performing repairs in line with OEM standards. You’ll play a critical role in minimizing downtime and enhancing productivity by prioritizing tasks that have the greatest impact on operations. Beyond repairs, you’ll maintain detailed records of breakdowns, parts, and corrective actions, and actively participate in Root Cause Analysis to prevent recurring failures. With safety at the forefront, you’ll uphold compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and site-specific requirements, engage in safety initiatives, and keep mandatory training up to date—ensuring both reliability and responsibility in every shift.
What you’ll do
- Respond to breakdowns promptly and perform repairs to restore equipment functionality.
- Diagnose faults accurately and resolve them according to OEM standards.
- Record all breakdowns, parts used, and actions taken.
- Minimize downtime by prioritizing tasks based on production impact.
- Participate in RCA initiatives to prevent reoccurring failures.
- Perform shift handovers with clear and complete information.
- Support assistants and ensure work area is organized and safe.
- Utilize time effectively during shift to support multiple machines if needed.
- Ensure safe operation and maintenance of tools, vehicles, and equipment
What you’ll bring
- Grade 12 with a recognised trade test qualification (Electrical, Millwright, Diesel Mechanic, Earthmoving Mechanic, Fitter).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of mining equipment (i.e. D65, PV271, PV235, PV351)
- Experience with Epiroc equipment and advanced RCS troubleshooting is highly advantageous.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and mechanical knowledge.
