Your Mission as a Boilermaker-Welder

Are you a skilled artisan who takes pride in quality workmanship, precision repairs and keeping critical mining equipment operating at its best?

As a Boilermaker-Welder, you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing mining equipment through expert welding, fabrication and structural repair work. Working both in the workshop and in the field, you'll help ensure equipment reliability, safety and performance while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

 

What you'll do

  • Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on Epiroc and customer mining equipment to maximize equipment availability and reliability.
  • Carry out structural repairs, welding and fabrication work on booms, frames, guards, chassis and other critical equipment components.
  • Manufacture, modify and repair components through cutting, fitting, grinding, metal forming and welding processes to meet operational requirements.
  • Conduct inspections and condition assessments to identify structural defects, cracks, wear and potential failure points before they impact performance.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and work instructions to execute repairs and fabrication activities accurately and efficiently.
  • Support machine rebuilds, component overhauls and field service activities while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and weld quality.
  • Complete job cards, maintenance reports and material usage records while contributing to continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by complying with mine, customer and Epiroc SHEQ requirements and maintaining safe working practices at all times.

 

What you'll bring

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • Qualified Boilermaker Trade Certificate or Welder Trade Test.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in mining equipment maintenance, with exposure to drilling rigs, loaders, trucks, earthmoving equipment or related mining machinery.
  • Proven experience in structural welding, fabrication and mining equipment repairs.
  • Strong knowledge of welding procedures, engineering drawing interpretation and the use of fabrication equipment, cutting tools and grinders.
  • Sound troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, with the ability to identify and resolve structural equipment issues.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to work in mining production, workshop and field-service environments as operationally required.
