HPC Engineer
Nanjing, JS, CN, 210038
About the Role
The HPC Engineer plays a pivotal role in the development and maintenance of embedded software for autonomous driving domain controllers. This position is responsible for designing and implementing underlying drivers, middleware, real-time task scheduling, and vehicle communication stacks. The successful candidate ensures software reliability, real-time performance, and the functional safety of perception, planning, and control modules critical to autonomous driving systems. Collaboration with algorithm developers, hardware engineers, and vehicle integration teams is essential for delivering robust mass-production software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software for automotive-grade microcontrollers and system on chips (MCU/SoC), including writing device drivers, task scheduling mechanisms, inter-core communication protocols, and implementing CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and related automotive communication protocols.
- Integrate autonomous driving modules such as perception, localization, planning, and control algorithms onto embedded platforms with a focus on optimizing runtime latency and memory consumption for superior performance.
- Conduct comprehensive debugging of real-time performance issues, memory leaks, crashes, and communication anomalies both in lab settings and on real vehicles to ensure software robustness.
- Adhere strictly to ISO 26262 functional safety standards by executing thorough unit and integration testing, as well as rectifying identified problems to meet automotive safety integrity levels.
- Maintain and enhance software build scripts, version control processes, compilation environments, and release procedures; produce detailed design documentation, test reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support efficient development and product deployment.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams comprising hardware, algorithm, and vehicle engineering experts to identify and resolve software defects during mass production and field operation phases.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science, Automotive Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automation, or related technical disciplines.
- Proven expertise in C/C++ programming with deep familiarity of embedded real-time operating systems such as QNX, VxWorks, AUTOSAR OS, or Linux RT.
- Strong command of automotive communication protocols including CAN/CAN FD, SOME/IP, Ethernet, and UDS diagnostics.
- Hands-on experience in embedded cross-compilation, GDB debugging, performance profiling, and techniques for memory optimization.
- Sound understanding of autonomous driving software architecture covering perception, localization, planning, and control components.
- Proficiency with Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, and unit testing tools; exhibits rigorous logical thinking and excellent problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in mass-production embedded software development for autonomous driving applications.
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic Platform/Adaptive Platform and ISO 26262 ASIL-B/D functional safety requirements.
- Familiarity with automotive-grade SoC/MCU platforms from manufacturers such as NXP, Infineon, or Renesas.
- Exposure to ROS/ROS2 frameworks and sensor driver integration for camera, radar, or LiDAR systems.
