Join our dedicated Research & Development team in Nanjing as a Mechanical Engineer specializing in the design and innovation of structural components and mechanisms for the UMR product line. About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will uphold UMR design guidelines along with applicable legal and regulatory standards to ensure highly functional and reliable products. Innovation, collaboration, and a customer-focused mindset will drive your efforts in designing structural components and mechanisms, creating detailed 3D/2D drawings, and maintaining comprehensive documentation and bills of materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize structural components and mechanical systems for UMR products, ensuring feasible and effective technical solutions.
- Create, update, and manage accurate 3D/2D technical drawings using industry-standard software, preferably Creo.
- Prepare design documentation, calculations, and maintain bills of material for products and sub-assemblies.
- Select standard hardware components and specify materials with consideration of manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, painting, casting, and forging.
- Collaborate with sourcing teams to assess and qualify suppliers to meet quality and cost targets.
- Support production teams by troubleshooting mechanical issues and delivering practical solutions.
- Assist technical service and customer centers in resolving field issues and improving service quality.
- Lead or participate in new technology development initiatives, product improvements, cost reduction, and localization projects.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards throughout all design and production stages.
- Travel to various working environments including underground mines and construction sites as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management, contributing to overall business objectives.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, or related fields.
- Experience designing large structural components and drilling rig working devices highly preferred.
- Proficiency in 3D/2D design tools, especially Creo; experience with Teamcenter is a plus.
- Knowledge of material selection and manufacturing processes including welding, machining, painting, casting, and forging.
- Proven track record in successful product innovation with positive customer or market feedback is an advantage.
- Advanced skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Good command of English or strong willingness to develop language skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and dedication to product excellence.
- Willingness and ability to travel to challenging work environments such as underground mines and construction sites.
