Mechanical Engineer – Epiroc (Nanjing) Construction & Mining Equipment Ltd
Join our dynamic ADS Engineering team within the Equipment & Service business area, contributing to cutting-edge developments in the construction and mining machinery industry. As a Mechanical Engineer based in Nanjing, China, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing components and new products that address customer requirements and market demands.
About the Role
In this position, you will utilize your expertise in mechanical design to develop innovative components and products using advanced CAD systems, with a primary focus on heavy machinery, preferably mining or drilling equipment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and refining detailed 3D models, drawings, and large assemblies primarily using Creo solid modeling software, demonstrating proficiency in all aspects of mechanical design.
- Managing engineering change requests, modifying existing product designs to improve performance, manufacturability, or to meet updated specifications.
- Analyzing field problem reports and collaborating to develop effective solutions, ensuring product reliability and customer satisfaction.
- Participating actively in cross-functional teams, contributing your mechanical design knowledge to support the development of new products.
- Producing comprehensive engineering documentation to support production, testing, and quality assurance processes.
- Engineering special designs tailored to unique customer requests, accompanied by essential supporting calculations to verify feasibility and performance.
- Preparing Bills of Material (BOMs) and coordinating with the purchasing department to ensure clarity and accuracy in product specifications.
- Liaising closely with fabrication and testing teams to ensure product compliance with design intent and delivery schedules, facilitating seamless production workflows.
Candidate Profile and Competencies
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with the following qualifications and skills:
- 3 to 5 years of practical experience in mechanical design within the heavy machinery sector, with a preference for backgrounds in mining or drilling machinery.
- Strong expertise and hands-on experience in Creo solid modeling software, including advanced modeling, drafting, and handling large assemblies.
- Familiarity with mobile construction equipment, understanding the challenges and dynamics of designs subjected to field conditions.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications to support documentation and communication tasks efficiently.
- Fluency in both Chinese and English, enabling effective communication in our global and local teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to collaborate effectively with colleagues, vendors, and customers.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational skills and the capacity to perform root cause analyses.
- Solution-oriented mindset with outstanding problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace feedback and iterate designs as necessary.
- A collaborative team player who is open-minded, flexible, and committed to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
