About the Role
The Mechanical Engineer will play a vital role in supporting and advancing the technical capabilities of our PSD division. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and develop mechanical components including frames, structures, covers, and machine layouts. Your expertise will drive continuous improvements on existing products from supplier manufacturing through to aftermarket support, ensuring robust solutions in challenging operational environments such as underground mines and construction sites.

This position demands a proactive self-starter with a hands-on approach who thrives in a dynamic and flexible team setting. As part of your responsibilities, you will focus on delivering high-quality engineering outputs within tight timelines, aligned with key performance indicators, and contribute to enhancing customer satisfaction through technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture within engineering that prioritizes customer satisfaction and quality outcomes.
  • Design and develop crucial mechanical components and systems ensuring compliance with relevant legislation such as CE, KA, Fops/Rops, CSA, vibration, and noise regulations.
  • Create and release detailed bills of material for products and related subsystems efficiently.
  • Collaborate closely with product development teams and Customer Engineering Services (CES) to execute new product development projects successfully.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives addressing mechanical issues across supplier, production, purchasing, and aftermarket domains.
  • Provide technical support for customer-specific requests, quality enhancement efforts, supplier chain optimization, and production processes.
  • Develop innovative localization solutions and identify alternative parts to promote sustained business growth.
  • Support technical services and training activities, including the development of service tools and simulators for PSD products.

Qualifications and Competences

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with over 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of diesel machinery design requirements, including compliance with industry legislation and regulations related to safety, vibration, and noise.
  • Direct experience with industrial or mining machinery is highly desirable.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to demanding and rugged environments such as underground mines and construction sites.
  • Proficiency in English or a strong ambition to develop language skills.
  • Familiarity with design and simulation software including Creo, Creo Simulate, and Teamcenter.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills with an open and flexible mindset.
  • A can-do attitude, attention to detail, strong sense of responsibility, and goal-oriented work ethic.
