About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineer within Epiroc's PSD division, you will contribute to the Research & Development department by working on engineering projects and aftermarket products designed for the mining industry. You will join a dynamic and collaborative team focused on innovation and high-quality design, supporting various stages of product development from conceptual design to production and post-sales support.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the design and development of mechanical components including frames, structures, covers, and overall machine layouts that meet rigorous industry standards and customer requirements.
- Create and release accurate bills of materials (BOM) for products and associated subsystems, ensuring alignment with project timelines and quality benchmarks.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product development teams, customer engineering services (CES), suppliers, production, and aftermarket departments to deliver projects within agreed KPIs.
- Engage in continuous product improvement initiatives by analyzing performance data, providing solutions for manufacturing optimization, supplier quality, and production workflows.
- Provide engineering support for customer special requests, quality improvements, and supply chain optimization to maintain and enhance business growth.
- Develop localization strategies and identify suitable alternative parts to adapt products effectively to regional requirements.
- Assist Technical Service teams by offering engineering expertise and by developing innovative service tools and simulators to enhance training and support capabilities.
- Promote a culture within the engineering team focused on elevating customer satisfaction through proactive problem-solving and quality-driven actions.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with over 3 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in mining or heavy machinery.
- Strong knowledge of diesel machinery design, including familiarity with legislation standards such as CE, KA, Fops/Rops, and CSA, as well as vibration and noise regulations.
- Comprehensive understanding of welding and machining processes, metal properties, and manufacturing requirements.
- Ability and willingness to travel to challenging work environments such as underground mines and construction sites, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chinese.
- Proficiency with engineering software tools including Creo, Creo Simulate, and Teamcenter to effectively perform design, simulation, and data management tasks.
