Role Overview

As a Software Engineer, you will take full ownership of software development initiatives, from concept and design through to testing and deployment. You will contribute to the development and enhancement of software platforms encompassing intelligent motion control, autonomous driving, AI-driven applications, web services, data communication protocols, and user interfaces. Your work will directly support automation projects and improve system functionalities, enhancing Epiroc's technological edge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and implement new automation software projects that align with business goals and technical standards.
  • Design and maintain software platforms, including intelligent motion control systems, autonomous driving features, AI applications, websites, data communication processes, and user interface elements.
  • Maintain clear, frequent communication with project owners and technical support teams to ensure project alignment and swift resolution of challenges.
  • Make informed technical decisions that effectively address business challenges and improve software solutions.
  • Ensure all developed software meets required specifications, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Contribute to continuous software improvement by researching emerging technologies and recommending architectural enhancements.

Required Competences and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in software development with a strong background in Java, C++, and GUI development.
  • Proven experience in embedded system development using Linux platforms.
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP applications and familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, CANopen, and Ethernet.
  • Experience with relational databases including SQL and MySQL.
  • Experience in mobile equipment and robotics automation is highly advantageous.
  • Working knowledge or experience with ROS 2 applications is considered a plus.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
