Sourcing Engineer

Job responsibility:

Assist in areas of assignment and carry out designated responsibilities in areas such as, but not limited to:

• Develop strategic plan to manage supply base for assigned commodities and to achieve goals of quality, delivery and cost improvement for both production and aftermarket requirements.

• Develop contracts and manage relationships with key suppliers to provide a stable product supply and year-over-year cost reduction.

• Research and evaluate potential suppliers to meet Epiroc’s needs to drive continuous improvement.

• Evaluate and monitor performance of existing suppliers and take corrective actions as required.

• Consolidate supply base to best performing suppliers.
• Serve as a member and/or leader for working teams, as required.

• Understand supplier manufacturing processes and help suppliers change those processes to improve quality and reduce lead times.

• Evaluate PPV and Buy to Buy and take action to meet budget through market analysis, supplier negotiation, and program development.

• Monitor supplier capacity and Call-off actions; initiate changes as required.
• Perform make/buy analysis for potential commodity outsourcing.

• As required, participate on teams for new product development, inventory reduction, process improvement, etc.

• Actively support Epiroc lead buyer world-wide strategy initiatives through leadership of and/or participation on corporate teams.

• Ensure that payment and quality issues are resolved in a timely manner.

• Initiate and complete administrative requirements such as writing engineering change requests, loading quotations, etc. as required to ensure parts and pricing are available.

• Coach other sourcing engineer and give necessary support on supplier searching, price negotiation etc.. If it is necessary, take lead sourcing daily work with big picture sense.

• Well handle other temporary work assigned by Manager.

Experience:

• BS Engineering degree required
• Solid knowledge about engineering and different manufacturing processes
• Fluency in English required.
• At least 3 years of sourcing experience.

Education/Knowledge:

• Broad understanding of business operations and financial analysis.
• Good knowledge related to business contracts.

• Background in manufacturing techniques including machining and fabrication, ability to read engineering drawings, and effective communication skills. Requires strong writing, administrative and analysis skills.

• Computer Skills Required – MS Office Suite, Access database development, MRP systems ( M3, etc.) and data extraction

• Good communication and negotiation skills.
