About the Role

As a Technical Project Leader, you will play a pivotal role in guiding new product development projects from concept through to product launch, ensuring adherence to the UMR design guidelines as well as national and international legal and regulatory standards. You will orchestrate cross-functional collaboration, lead technical design reviews, and manage the integrity and quality of R&D outputs to support continuous product innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage technical projects focused on underground production equipment, ensuring effective project execution in line with prescribed processes.
  • Develop mechanical designs for various components and systems of underground excavation machinery, leveraging 3D and 2D design tools.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive bills of materials (BOM) for both products and their sub-assemblies to align engineering efforts with manufacturing.
  • Select appropriate standard hardware, components, materials, and manufacturing processes, guided by detailed load, stress, and structural analysis.
  • Promote continuous product improvements by integrating feedback and innovations into ongoing development cycles.
  • Collaborate closely with technical service teams to diagnose and resolve field issues, enhancing product reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop detailed machine test procedures and documentation to facilitate rigorous product validation.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance and competitiveness.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mining or construction equipment design, demonstrating advanced technical and project leadership capabilities.
  • Strong proficiency with 3D and 2D CAD design and drafting tools, able to design both components and complete machines.
  • Experience in new product development projects preferred, with a track record of successful product innovations receiving positive market or customer feedback.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Good English language skills or a strong ambition to achieve proficiency quickly, to facilitate effective communication in our international environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of mining or construction equipment layout, design principles, and relevant industry regulations and standards.
