Job Description – Product Engineer

Job Responsibility:

  • Support development and execution of sourcing strategies under guidance of category manager.
  • Assist in managing supplier relationships to ensure adherence to quality, delivery, and cost targets-Coordinate with suppliers for RFQs, quotations, and basic commercial discussions.
  • Support supplier evaluation, onboarding, and documentation processes.
  • Track and monitor supplier performance; escalate issues and assist in implementing corrective actions.
  • Contribute to supply improvement program by analyzing supplier performance data.
  • Assist in negotiation preparation by gathering cost data, benchmarking, and market inputs
  • Support cost reduction initiatives through data analysis, alternate sourcing,
  • Participate in Buy vs Make analysis and sourcing decisions with guidance from senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor supplier schedules and follow up on call-offs to ensure timely material availability
  • Develop basic understanding of supplier manufacturing processes and support improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, Production, Quality, Logistics) for smooth execution of sourcing activities.
  • Support New Product Development (NPD) activities including supplier coordination and sample development.
  • Assist in spend analysis, localization initiatives, and sourcing data management.
  • Ensure timely completion of administrative tasks such as engineering change requests, quotation loading, and system updates.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute to project execution.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and support additional responsibilities as directed by the manager.

Competences, skills and experience:

  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and hydraulics.
  • Proficiency in cost modeling, spend analysis, and supplier negotiations.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
  • Engineering degree in Mechanical with 2-3 years of experience.
  • Positive attitude, Self-motivated.
  • A good communicator and a good team player.
  • Strong communication skills to negotiate with suppliers.
  • Able to deal with deadlines, being customer oriented and pro-active.
  • Strong personal drive and extensive analytical skills.
  • Undisputed business ethics vs supplier & adhere to "Business Code of Practice"
  • Able to work in Matrix organization
