THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Pumps Workshop Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the pump workshop, ensuring all repair, overhaul, and maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high quality standard. Based in Orange, NSW this role drives productivity, team performance, customer satisfaction, and financial outcomes while maintaining compliance with all safety and operational policies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Workshop Operations

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the pump workshop, including repairs, rebuilds, servicing and testing
  • Plan and prioritise workflow to meet customer deadlines and operational targets
  • Monitor job progress, quality standards and workshop productivity
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance

 

Leadership & Safety

  • Lead, develop and mentor workshop technicians
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS legislation, policies and procedures
  • Manage workforce planning, rostering and resource allocation
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching and training activities

 

Quality & Customer Service

  • Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and quality standards
  • Manage inspections, testing, non-conformances and corrective actions
  • Liaise with customers regarding job requirements, progress updates and technical support
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships

 

Financial & Asset Management

  • Contribute to workshop budgets, productivity targets and financial performance
  • Monitor job profitability and identify efficiency improvements
  • Manage inventory, procurement and stock control processes
  • Maintain workshop equipment and assets

About you:

You’ll bring a blend of technical expertise and leadership ability. Ideally, you have:

  • Demonstrated experience in pump maintenance, repair, overhaul or within rotating equipment environments
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a workshop environment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and fault diagnosis
  • Sound knowledge of WHS regulations and safe work practices
  • Strong organisational, planning and communication skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and lead a team
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
  • Committed to safety, quality and continuous improvement
