Join Our Team as a Simulation Lead at Epiroc!
Work Type: Onsite
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee FEA, CFD, and multiphysics simulation activities across projects
- Define simulation strategies, modeling assumptions, and validation methodologies
- Perform and review simulations including:
- Structural (static, dynamic, nonlinear, fatigue)
- Thermal (steady-state and transient)
- CFD (internal/external flow, conjugate heat transfer)
- Ensure model accuracy through:
- Mesh independence studies
- Sensitivity analyses
- Convergence verification
- Develop and standardize simulation workflows, templates, and best practices
- Implement automation and parametric studies using Python and ANSYS tools
- Collaborate with design teams to influence product development and optimization
- Conduct trade-off and optimization studies (performance, weight, cost, thermal)
- Define and support physical validation testing and correlate simulation results
- Mentor and guide simulation engineers; conduct technical reviews
- Establish and enforce simulation QA/QC processes and documentation standards
- Communicate results and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Evaluate and integrate new simulation tools, methods, and technologies
- Support strategic initiatives involving advanced modeling and simulation capabilities
Knowledge/Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility preferred
- 8–12+ years of experience in simulation-driven engineering (FEA/CFD)
Skills and Abilities:
- Expert proficiency with ANSYS:
- ANSYS Mechanical (structural FEA)
- ANSYS Fluent and/or CFX (CFD)
- ANSYS Workbench and SpaceClaim
- Strong knowledge of:
- Finite Element Analysis (linear/nonlinear, static/dynamic, fatigue)
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (turbulence modeling, heat transfer, multiphase flow)
- Multiphysics simulations (thermal-structural, fluid-structure interaction)
- Experience with:
- Advanced meshing techniques and mesh convergence studies
- Solver setup, numerical stability, and convergence control
- High-performance computing (HPC) environments
- Proficiency in scripting/automation:
- Python (PyAnsys, ACT)
- Strong understanding of material models:
- Plasticity, creep, fatigue, fracture mechanics
- Ability to validate simulations against experimental and analytical results
- Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Wage/salary for position: $115,000 -$125,000
