Your mission
As a Category Manager you will be responsible for leading strategic and tactical sourcing initiatives within defined product categories- specifically weldments and hydraulics—supporting business growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction. The role combines technical expertise in welding with commercial acumen and supplier relationship management, particularly with East European partners.
Main responsibilities include:
Category Strategy & Execution
Define and implement sourcing strategies aligned with divisional goals
Conduct market and spend analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and risks
Lead dual sourcing evaluations, especially in risk-prone regions
Supplier Relationship Management
Develop and manage a global supplier base, with emphasis on East European suppliers
Ensure supplier compliance with performance, sustainability, and ethical standards
Technical & Commercial Expertise
Collaborate with engineering and operations to ensure product quality and manufacturability
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with sourcing, engineering, finance, and sustainability teams to align sourcing strategies, Represent the sourcing function in development projects and CPI initiatives
Risk & Contract Management
Negotiate contracts and manage supplier risks including geopolitical and compliance issues
Your profile
As an ideal candidate for this role, you have a Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain or similar with a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Sourcing, Supply Chain or Operations, preferably in hydraulics and heavy equipment. You have solid understanding of welded structures and hydraulic systems used in demolition and earthmoving tools and have good experience in managing East European suppliers (including scouting and auditing). You also have an experience in cooperation with dispersed sourcing/purchasing teams.
The person we are looking for has good communication, presentation, negotiation, and data analytical skills. You can manage multiple tasks globally and have demonstrated leadership capabilities. You have expertise in negotiating/interpreting legal terms and conditions and the ability to influence a large and diverse group of stakeholders including Senior Management, Operations, Finance and Supply Chain Management personnel.
This is a global opportunity, therefore fluency in English is necessary. Additional languages are considered a plus.

Location and travel
The location for this role is flexible, with the possibility to be based in Epiroc offices in Czechia, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria. Local terms and conditions will apply. Regular travel will be required (up to 50%).
