Your mission as a Maintenance Technician
Are you a skilled Service Technician ready to apply your craft to autonomous drilling equipment at the forefront of modern mining? Join Epiroc and play a critical role in keeping our drill rigs running at peak performance through planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and rapid breakdown response. You'll work across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems including autonomous and RCS technologies in one of the most advanced operating environments in the industry, where uptime, safety, and quality of execution directly shape customer trust. If you bring solid technical experience, a structured approach to problem-solving, and a strong safety-first mindset, this is where your skills keep production moving.
What you’ll do
- Perform planned maintenance, inspections, and servicing on autonomous drill rigs in line with OEM standards and service agreement requirements.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and conduct fault diagnosis and repair across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems to minimise downtime.
- Execute root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and eliminate recurring failures, driving long-term equipment reliability.
- Support, troubleshoot, and maintain autonomous drilling systems — including RCS, sensors, communication systems, and automation infrastructure — and assist with commissioning, testing, and optimisation.
- Ensure full compliance with Epiroc Life Saving Rules, the Mine Health and Safety Act, and site-specific safety requirements, actively participating in initiatives such as VFLs, HPHs, and PTOs.
- Maintain high standards of work quality, documentation, housekeeping, and pit compliance, ensuring all tools, vehicles, and equipment remain safe and fit for purpose.
- Submit daily reports, weekly performance updates, and maintenance records, while providing feedback to Site Management and Product Specialists on equipment performance and improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to productivity and automation improvement initiatives, support spares and on-site stock management, and coach Technical Assistants and junior team members on best practices.
What you’ll bring
- Grade 12 and a Recognised Trade Certificate - Diesel Mechanic, Earthmoving, Millwright, or similar (Essential).
- Minimum 3 years of mining or heavy equipment experience, with proven exposure to Epiroc or other OEM Surface Rotary Blasthole Drills.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge, with advanced troubleshooting capability and a structured problem-solving approach.
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office, and a valid driver's licence.
- Experience with automation systems, RCS, digital mining technologies, and Trimble High Precision GPS (Advantageous).
Who you are
- A structured problem-solver who stays methodical when diagnosing complex faults under pressure.
- Safety-first in mindset and discipline, setting the standard in high-risk environments.
- Reliable and self-driven, able to work independently and deliver to a high standard without close supervision.
- A clear communicator who engages professionally with clients, supervisors, and team members alike.
